What's in a record

EIN, organization name, city, state, ZIP, NTEE code and category, 501(c) subsection, IRS ruling month, foundation type (public charity, private foundation, church…), deductibility code, asset/income/revenue amounts when reported, and the first IRS file we saw it in. We leave out the "in care of" person name and the street address.

For: nonprofit accountants and bookkeepers, fundraising and donor-management software, insurance agents, banks, grant consultants, payroll and HR vendors.

How "new" is defined

An organization is new when its EIN was not in the previous month's extract. Most new organizations have a ruling (recognition) month in the last two months (kind = new_ruling). Some were added with an older ruling date, for example after reinstatement following automatic revocation (added_older_ruling). The first batch (2026-10-13) had no previous snapshot, so it uses IRS ruling months after 2026-07. Method: bootstrap (no previous snapshot): IRS ruling month 202608 or later plus Northeast-region EINs missing from the prior month's extract.
